WIN THIS: A Signed L.S. Brownlee Princess Pink Garden Flower Shoe

April showers bring May flowers...

Of all the things I have inherited from my mother (a crooked grin, resilience, headstrong tendencies), what I value the most is my love of gardening. Even my first step into entrepreneurialship was selling packets of flower seeds, which she was there to ensure that I met my goals.

On this first of May through May 8, I'm giving you a chance to win a signed Princess Pink Garden Shoe from L.S. Brownlee. Brownlee is a talented artist who was asked by Walt Disney Epcot Center to sell her "Flower Shoe" paintings at their yearly Flower and Garden Festival. All of her prints are on heavy watercolor paper and are embellished or enhanced with watercolor paint, ink/pencil, and signed by her before shipping.  The unframed Princess Pink Garden Flower Shoe print is 8 1/2 x 11" in size.

So whether your mother loved it or loathed it, grew flowers or vegetables, had a green thumb or NO thumb, you have memories of your mother's garden.

In order to become eligible, you must do the following:

~ Submit your memory of your mother's (or grandmother's) garden in the comments section

  2. My grandma always had something growing in the garden. She grew the produce that we ate fresh out of the garden during the growing season and what we ate out of canning jars and the freezer during the lean months.

    As a child, my siblings and I spent a lot of time peeling shucking and snapping whatever she grew and she grew a LOT! As much as we loved our grandma, we hated going over to her house because it was so much work and it meant that the kitchen would be extremely hot because we had no air conditioning. But, we loved whatever she cooked.

  3. When I was young, I lived with my grandmother, who had a huge garden. We had orange trees and lemon trees and amazing flowers. She had beautiful roses of different colors, and their scent was the most vivid and wonderful of any rose I have smelled since! I loved picking them and giving them to her as a gift and she would always tell me "I know you love me and want to give me a gift, but please don't pick the flowers", hehe. She passed away a year and a day ago. Thanks for making me remember these beautiful memories.

  6. My mom doesnt garden but my grandma did. I actually took some of her bulbs from her house years after her passing and they are now blooming in MY plentiful front flower beds. I love flowers, nature, and gardeningand I think thats where I got the bug from.

  9. when I was a young girl, my mom had many flowers, flowering shrubs and a love for
    Canna flowers. On huge plot in our yard was saved for the yearly planting of various colors of large blooming Cannas! My friends;
    Brenda, Linda and I would get right in the middle of Mom's Canna garden and have a tea party, at least once a week. It was like having
    out own "Secret Garden!"
    Many thanks, Cindi
