Paperback Fragrance from Demeter Fragrance Library
They tell me I was a quiet child; one who could always be found in a corner with my face buried in a book. Books were a mode of transportation which took me to majestic places. I guess you can say they were an escape from my urban environment, as words ignited all of my budding senses.
Now that I am a published author, I use books to transcribe my colorful steps. And like other authors, I feel when my book is well-received by readers, it's literally the sweet smell of success.
Imagine my glee when the gracious folks at Demeter Fragrance Library - the unique collection of single-note and single-experience fragrances - shipped me their Paperback fragrance in a 1/2oz Cologne Purse Spray and 4oz Foaming Bath & Shower Gel for review.
That's right; a perfume that smells like a book. Oh, you thought Karl Lagerfeld's anticipated book eau de parfum was the first?
But I digress. If I had to sum up the scent of Paperback in one word, it would be familiar. Like an old, dog-eared page ripped right out of my own lifelong affair with books (the ingredients include chamomile, rosemary and sage.) Especially in this age of e-books and downloads, it's as comforting as receiving a handwritten letter in the mail.
I know what you're thinking: who wants to smell like a book? Not everyone does. But it's a refreshing alternative to the flowery, citrusy, celebrity-endorsed fragrances (one of which broke me out like you wouldn't believe).
Seeing that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, I urge you to try it for yourself, or to gift the bibliophile in your life. It's qualified to be on my best-smeller list...
Nice article, thanks for the information.
